Jr. Miss Cosmos United States 2018

Cagney Bennett

With a heart for service and a love for reading, Cagney Bennett is using her crown to better her community. Cagney is a current freshman and honor student at Elizabethton High School in her hometown of Elizabethton, Tennessee. It is here that Cagney created her platform of “Stopping the Summer Slide”, which encourages children to continue to read throughout the summer. Her work promoting reading landed her a position as an ambassador for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and allows her the ability to distribute books throughout the Carter County Region.

Cagney dedicates her time to her platform as well as community work with various organizations such as: Second Harvest Food Bank, Food for the Multitude, First United Methodist Church, Summer Lunch Programs, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Relay for Life.

When not focusing on School and Community Involvement Cagney enjoys dancing, gymnastics, cheerleading, spending time with family and friends on the lake and serving as a cheerleading mentor.

Cagney’s future plans are to use her title of Jr. Miss Cosmos United States to further the awareness of her platform and the Imagination Library by distributing 2,000 books to children in her region each year as well as working towards her ambition of graduating from The University of Tennessee with a degree in Law or Physical Therapy.

Cagney lives by a quote from Dolly herself: “The seeds you help plant in your community can grow across the world.”
